About Sarhn
What is Sarhn Currently Doing?
Early Years
Sarhn's photographic journey started very early. It was during her childhood when she discovered her passion for photography. "I can remember being the age of eight, inspired by my mother's camera. With her camera, I felt I had the ability to explore the world around me. It was my way of showing people how I saw my world - through the eyes of a child".
After high school Sarhn decided to turn a hobby into a career, by entering Griffith University - The Queensland College of Art. She studied part time in the creative arts and photography while working full time with two professional photographers in Brisbane. It was during these years after experimenting with technique and style, that she formed and established her artistic way of photographing people. "Photography is and has always been a passion of mine. Therefore I find myself being driven by this passion to continually learn and stretch myself to produce photographs that my clients and I, will truly be amazed and forever happy with".
The 'Sarhn McArthur Photography' Story
Sarhn selected Sydney Road Balgowlah to build Sarhn McArthur Photography's photographic studio so to better establish herself in Sydney after moving from Brisbane in 1996. Then in 2004 she turned her photographic studio into a more mobile business. "This now means from the time you inquire with me to the time your photography order is ready, I will come to a location that is convenient to you and at a time that suits your lifestyle - I will be coming to you instead of you to me".

Through Sarhn's name as a wedding and portrait photographer, she has been asked to travel all over Sydney and NSW. As well as frequently returning to Queensland and Melbourne, she also has captured images overseas for people in New Zealand, Norway, Thailand, London and Italy.
"Excellence in photography still is the driving force behind my work and business. It is not simply a career for me but a deep joy to be able to capture someone's personality on film. I have always enjoyed observing a person's nature and expressing what I sense through the medium of photography. I believe a person's character is incredibly diverse - no two people should ever be photographed the same. Therefore I desire to photograph more than the mere appearance of a person. I want to capture the look of a mother's face as she plays with her new born child. To capture the unrestrained joy of a child, laughing while playing on a beach. The timeless beauty of a grandfather and his grandson can be forever remembered long after the moment has been passed because I was able to capture the bond they share."
James Truslow Adams once said "The great use of life is to spend it on something that will outlast it." Through the camera, Sarhn believes she can do this for people. Capturing people, relationships, friendships and life for the present and following generations to remember just how special life is forever.
"To be invited to capture the different stages of life is the greatest honour that I experience as a wedding and portrait photographer. To be present at a couple's wedding and then years later to be invited to photograph their first child. Photographing a young lady as she leaves for her high school formal and then to be invited to capture her joy again on her wedding day. No greater privilege can I have than this."
